Somewhere
A community-driven exhibition at Hermitage at Diamond for the 2025 ArtPrize event
VEIL’s current project, Somewhere, is a community-driven exhibition at Hermitage at Diamond for the 2025 ArtPrize event. Hermitage at Diamond is a historic church being restored to be a center for the arts. VEIL Collective has been given creative control over curating an exhibition based on the theme, community over individualism. This is an opportunity to not only curate a space but to work alongside other artists while benefiting from the outreach that comes with exhibiting for ArtPrize.
Community confirms that personal achievements come from shared knowledge, common values, and mutual support. Individualism, on the other hand, emphasizes personal autonomy, independence, and the pursuit of individual goals and achievements. Somewhere aims to achieve community through the use of art, creating a space where people feel connected to each other, a place that feels like home, that feels like family. Community is more important now than ever. Our goal is to help recreate a sense of community that has been lost due to different factors in the 21st century that prioritizes individualism.
